Desulfurization and denitrification are performed by substantially removing the fly ash from the flue gas in a dry electrostatic precipitator, and the gas is passed through a GGH extractor to be cooled to about 110 C. C. In a spray cooler, the gas is further cooled to 60-70 C. C, the ideal temperature level for the desulfurization reaction, adding the necessary amount of ammonia for desulfurization and denitrification. The gas then enters the processing vessel where an electron beam is applied. In the treatment vessel, SOx and NOx are oxidized to sulfuric acid and nitric acid, which in turn react with ammonia to form fine particles of ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate.
